About Ear Falls |

|
“Ear Falls is a bush town in a slow-growth area of Ontario. It has been carved out of the forests and imbedded in some of Canada’s most picturesque countryside. Yet its history is as colorful as a rainbow. Like the rainbow it reflects sunshine and storm, triumphs and sorrows; and like the traditional rainbow, at its end was a pot of gold – the mineral wealth of the Canadian shield.”
Taken from Yesterday the River: A History of the Ear Falls District, by local historian, Rae Kiebuzinski, this excerpt provides a brief yet revealing glimpse into the background of this small, remote town in northern Ontario.
History, however, is always in the making. In the history books of tomorrow, Ear Falls will be remembered, in the early part of this new century, as a town with much to offer, a town that believes in itself. The beautiful scenery, oftentimes the view of the northern lights, the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, the fresh air – still very much as they were hundreds of years ago – are only the beginning. The community spirit, local businesses, dozens of nearby fishing camps, the deer peeking in our front windows and eating from our bird feeders, annual events such as Trout Forest Music Festival and Theatre 105, the amazing community efforts put into such projects as keeping Pakwash Provincial Park from its slated closure and opening a new Community Health Centre – these things and the people behind them are a huge part of what makes Ear Falls what it is today.
Our hope is that you will be able to see and appreciate Ear Falls for what it is – a friendly, warm community that’s seen its share of struggles. We have oftentimes found strength in our diversity, as well as in times of adversity. Much like a family, there are the inevitable personal differences, but when the going gets tough, this town has always bounced back with a determination to pull together, stick with it, and be even better than before.
Primed for Economic opportunity and a warm and inviting atmosphere we invite you to visit us or join us in the winning community we call Ear Falls.
